Leaving Empty Handed
One thing is for sure, when we step in to eternity, we will not be loaded with the bounty of our prized possessions, earthly privileges, and prestige. These “trophies” will not have enough value to barter for heavenly rewards. What we do with these things and how our heart has managed these things will matter much more than the material itself.
King Solomon gave us a glimpse of this eye-opening truth through Ecclesiastes 5:15.
“We all come to the end of our lives as naked and empty-handed as on the day we were born…”
You don’t get to take what you worked for, but you do get to take what you worked to be. Who we’ve become as a follower of Jesus is what God measures. The problem we face is, mankind measures success on a completely different scale. That is why we are always prioritizing things that will eventually leave us empty handed.
Why is this vitally important? Because our forever is determined by our earthly journey. You do not have the option of a do-over or retake. There is not a reset button. This is it my friends. How will you make it count?
For one day we will all be openly revealed before Christ on his throne so that each of us will be duly recompensed for our actions done in life, whether good or worthless. (2 Corinthians 5:10)
